Integrated payments and technology solutions provider Planet is collaborating with UK ultra-rapid EV charging network InstaVolt to deliver seamless, secure, and flexible payment solutions at InstaVolt’s charging stations across Europe.
InstaVolt has expanded its charging network into Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Iceland, and will leverage Planet’s advanced payments technology to facilitate seamless payments and support multi-currency transactions while integrating with RFID (radio frequency identification) and card payment processes. Planet’s cutting-edge technology powers both in-person and in-app transactions in EV charging environments, ensuring an intuitive and hassle-free process for drivers.
“We wanted to work with someone who could simplify our payment operations while delivering a smooth and flexible charging experience for our customers. Planet provides exactly that – an efficient, scalable, and seamless solution. Their support has been invaluable as we expand across Europe,” said Gary Kirkland, chief technology officer at InstaVolt.
With Planet’s in-person payment solution, EV drivers can tap their card, plug in their vehicle, and start charging, eliminating payment friction. Planet’s terminal technology supports both RFID roaming cards and traditional card payments on a single device. Additionally, advanced features like incremental pre-authorisation enhance flexibility for customers while minimising risk for InstaVolt.
Through integration with Planet’s online payments gateway, InstaVolt can now efficiently process in-app transactions, offering a consistent and scalable payment experience. With 60% of InstaVolt’s transactions made via in-person or online card payments, the company says this ensures that the payment process aligns with customer expectations while enabling InstaVolt’s continued growth in European markets.
“At Planet, our goal is to make payments as seamless as possible for businesses and their customers. Working with InstaVolt has been a fantastic opportunity to bring innovative payment solutions to the EV charging sector. This relationship demonstrates how technology and collaboration can drive industry-wide progress, setting a new standard for EV charging payments,” said Aleksander Leicht, SVP developing markets at Planet.
